This Privacy Policy explains how ClipJee ("the app") handles information when you use it. ClipJee is a clipboard history app: it keeps what you copy so you can find and paste it again. Because it sees what you copy, it is built to keep everything on your PC, encrypted, and to skip what should not be kept.
Summary
- Everything stays on your PC. ClipJee has no network access: its app package does not request internet or network permissions, so it cannot send your clipboard history anywhere. There is no account, no advertising, no analytics, no telemetry and no crash reporting to the publisher.
- Your history is encrypted on disk with a key protected by Windows for your user account.
- Some things are never saved: content that the copying app asks Windows not to keep in clipboard history, copies from password managers and private browser windows, apps and websites you exclude, and content recognised as sensitive, such as private keys, access tokens, passwords in configuration text and card numbers.
- You stay in control: pause, delete, clear the history, exclusions and how long history is kept are always available and always free.
Information ClipJee stores on your PC
When you copy something and none of the rules under "What ClipJee never saves" applies, ClipJee stores:
| Information | Details |
|---|---|
| What you copied | Text, links, formatted text (HTML and rich text, so it can be pasted with its original formatting), images, and the names and paths of copied files. ClipJee does not read or store the contents of copied files. |
| Where it came from | The app's name and program path; the window title, if "Save window titles" is on; for web browsers, the page title, address and domain when they can be read reliably. For Outlook and Microsoft Teams, only the item or chat name is kept, never the email address shown in the window title. |
| When and how often | When it was copied, how many times the same content was copied, and when you last used it. |
| Your organisation of it | Which items you pinned. |
| Settings | Your choices, including exclusions, disabled sensitive-content rules, retention and whether window titles are saved. |
| Premium status | If you buy Premium, the date and time the Microsoft Store last confirmed it, so Premium keeps working for up to 30 days if the Store can't be reached. |
Items are kept for the time you choose: in the free version up to 7 days and 500 items, with Premium 30 days, 90 days, a year or until you delete them, up to 100,000 items. Pinned items are kept until you unpin or delete them. Older items are deleted automatically.
What ClipJee never saves
These rules are on by default and are checked before the copied content is read:
- The copying app asked for it not to be kept. Apps can mark clipboard content as not for clipboard history (the Windows
ExcludeClipboardContentFromMonitorProcessingandCanIncludeInClipboardHistorymarkers). ClipJee honours them. - Password managers, including KeePass, KeePassXC, Bitwarden, 1Password, LastPass, Dashlane, Proton Pass, Enpass and RoboForm, and the Windows credential and security dialogs.
- Private browser windows: Microsoft Edge InPrivate, Google Chrome Incognito, Brave private windows and Firefox private browsing.
- Apps and website domains you exclude.
- Sensitive content: private keys, JSON Web Tokens, known cloud and service access keys, passwords written as settings (for example
password=in a connection string), and payment card numbers. When ClipJee skips something for this reason it shows a short notice, at most every 30 seconds. You can turn individual rules off in Settings. - Organisation policy: if your organisation has turned off clipboard history in Windows (the
AllowClipboardHistorypolicy), ClipJee does not capture anything and says why. - While paused: nothing is captured while capture is paused (for 15 minutes, an hour or until you resume). The notification-area icon shows the paused state.
The copy itself always works as usual; these rules only decide whether ClipJee keeps a copy in its history.
How it is protected
- The history, including images and original formats, is stored in an encrypted database in ClipJee's local app data folder. The encryption key is random and is protected with the Windows Data Protection API for your Windows user account, so other users of the PC cannot read it.
- The data lives in the app's own storage area, not in your Documents or other folders that are commonly synchronised to cloud storage.
- What encryption cannot protect against: software running under your own Windows account can use your account's protection, just as it can read the clipboard itself. A weak Windows password also weakens the protection; using BitLocker is recommended. Keeping history short and excluding sensitive apps limits what could be exposed.
Diagnostic logs
ClipJee writes local diagnostic logs to help with support. Logs never contain copied content, window titles, web addresses or file paths; they record only what kind of error occurred and in which app feature. Logs older than 14 days are deleted automatically. The optional "Capture activity" window shows recent capture decisions only on your screen while it is open; it is not saved.
Network connections
ClipJee makes no network connections of its own. The only online service involved is the Microsoft Store, which Windows contacts on ClipJee's behalf to check or complete a Premium purchase; the purchase and payment are handled entirely by the Microsoft Store under Microsoft's terms and privacy statement, and ClipJee never receives your payment details.
Permissions
The app package declares only full-trust desktop execution (runFullTrust), which a desktop app needs to monitor the clipboard, see which app you copied from and paste into the app you were using. It does not declare internet, network, location, camera, microphone or file-system capabilities. With your consent, ClipJee starts with Windows so it can keep your history while you work; you can turn this off in ClipJee's settings or in Windows Settings › Apps › Startup.
What ClipJee does not do
ClipJee does not:
- Send your clipboard history, sources, settings or logs to the publisher or anyone else.
- Require an account or collect your name, email address, contacts, location or payment details.
- Use artificial intelligence or cloud services to analyse what you copy.
- Collect analytics, advertising identifiers, usage telemetry or crash reports.
- Read the contents of files you copy, or record your keystrokes or screen.
- Sell or rent personal information.
Your choices and deletion
In ClipJee you can pause capture, delete single items or everything from one app or website, clear the whole history (with or without pinned items), choose how long history is kept, exclude apps and website domains, choose which sensitive-content rules apply, and turn off saving window titles. All of these are free.
Uninstalling ClipJee, or resetting it in Windows Settings › Apps, removes its local data, including the encrypted history and its key. Because the publisher never receives your data, the publisher has no user data from the app to access, correct, export or delete.
Children's privacy
ClipJee is a general-purpose productivity utility and is not directed to children. The publisher does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to this policy
This policy will be updated when ClipJee's features or data practices change, for example if a future version adds export, import or synchronisation. The current version will show a new effective date.
